Feminist Meme Contest

Hosted by:

LET'S GO - So where do I start? How do I approach making a feminist meme?

Each meme-maker selects three prompts one corresponding to each theme:
1. BODIES
2. TECHNOLOGIES
3. SOCIAL JUSTICE

That's great! Let's hear the prompts then.

Bodies: Identity Pleasure Embodied Experiences

Technologies: Systems and Devices Platforms and Apps Data Artificial Intelligence

Social Justice: Rights Resistance Representation Community

Remember to choose one from each bucket!

I think I got it... Can you share some ways in which to interpret these prompts?

This is by no means an exhaustive list of interpretations but here are some ideas and issues you could base your meme on:

Bodies: gender, sexuality, caste, disability, sex, desire, pleasure, work, food, health, relationships, hobbies

Technologies: Generative AI, programming language, recommendation, algorithms, datafication, virality and scale, attention economy, cultures of use, influencer, tech bro culture, social media platforms, open-source. errors and glitches, health and safety apps, data processing, blackbox

Social Justice: privacy, expression, safety, knowledge distribution and access, history, accountability, platform economy and gig work, spaces of solidarity and care, diversity, visibility and risks, re-imagining better worlds

A few feminist memes brewed in-house:
